Top 10 Best Games Releasing in September (2025)

Alright, folks, we’ve arrived at that time of the year when all the biggest game releases force our wallets to become empty. August was a good starter, but September begins the main course. We’re back to bring you a list of what we believe are the best games releasing for the month. Last month, we had plenty to feast upon, with a quick trip to Italy in Mafia: The Old Country, a stealthy remake in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and the long-awaited Lost Soul Aside.

Now we’re in September, the momentum continues to the point where we’ve added two extra games to our list. From new IPs, sequels, a bunch of great horror experiences and one long-awaited game that’s caused a delay with numerous games. Enough of my rambling, let us get down to business and show you what we believe are the best games for September (2025).

1. Metal Eden

2. Hell is Us

Hell is Us combines intense melee combat with the thrills of exploration.

For fans of action-adventure games that provide unique experiences, Hell is Us should be on your radar. In this third-person adventure, explore a version of Earth that has been ravaged by infighting. Traverse the isolated country of Hadea as Remi Letam, who, after 30 years, has returned in search of his parents. Alongside the civil war dividing the country, the region is suffering from a mysterious calamity, causing supernatural creatures to appear that no modern weapon can defeat. In this adventure, your faithful allies are your trusty drone and a sword from a different age. 

Hell is Us is a 3rd-person action-adventure game that combines intense melee combat with the thrill of exploration. Explore a semi-open world to find answers to your questions and face mysterious creatures all along your journey. The most unique aspect of Hell is Us is that it lacks a map, compass, and quest markers. You’ll have to depend on your instincts to navigate through the world. Alongside your sword, use other weapons like spears and axes to fight off the supernatural creatures and use your drone wisely to stay alive. 

3. Hollow Knight: Silksong

Journey to all-new lands, discover new powers, battle vast hordes of bugs and beasts

After years of waiting, finally Silksong is a reality! Hollow Knight: Silksong, the long-awaited sequel, continues this adventure as the lethal hunter Hornet. Our next pick is for all you horror fans with Cronos: The New Dawn. From the creators of Layers of Fear and the Silent Hill 2 Remake, Cronos: The New Dawn is a pulse-pounding, third-person survival horror game where you fight for the future by salvaging the past. Set in a grim world where Eastern European brutalism meets retro-futurist technology, play as the mysterious Traveller, tasked by the Enigmatic Collective to scour the wastelands of the future in search of time rifts that transport them to 1980s-era Poland. Continuing the horror train with Dead Reset, the latest FMV game from Wales Interactive’s large catalogue. Trapped in a terrifying death-loop, surgeon Cole Mason is kidnapped and brought to an underwater facility, forced to operate on a patient to extract an evolving parasitic horror. Dead Reset is a blood-soaked interactive horror, where each death brings you closer to the truth. Guide Cole on a path of Redemption or Damnation in your fight to survive. Death is not the end but offers a terrifying new perspective.

6. Borderlands 4

Explore a vast and dangerous world rife with warring factions as four new vault hunters

Taking a break from the horror, our next pick leans into the realms of comedy, mayhem, and a load of guns. Gearbox is back with Borderlands 4, returning us to their insane looter shooter universe. Once again, we have access to four new badass vault hunters and billions of wild and deadly weapons on an all-new planet ruled by a ruthless tyrant. Speaking of that tyrant, The Timekeeper, is a ruthless dictator who has you imprisoned on his planet, Kairos. Break free from the oppressive Timekeeper, unite the people of Kairos and ignite a revolution. Next, we have Dying Light: The Beast, the DLC that turned into a full-blown sequel. Return to the world of Dying Light as its original protagonist, Kyle Crane, in a brand new adventure. After years of brutal experimentation courtesy of your captor, The Baron, Kyle escapes and vows revenge. However, he must tame the rage inside him from the zombie DNA that surges within him. Experience a unique blend of open world and survival horror as you hunt down the man who transformed you into half man, half beast. The story can be played solo or with up to three other players in co-op with shared progress throughout.

8. Baby Steps

Get ready to fall for Nate in Baby Steps, a literal walking simulator

Probably the most bizarre game on our list, Baby Steps is a tale about walking — and other things. You’ll play as Nate, an unemployed, failed son who barely leaves the sofa. Of course, everything changes when he’s suddenly transported from his home to a world shrouded in mist. Luckily, he has discovered a power he can use to navigate this new world: walking. Hike through unforgettable scenery as you take in the sights and meet local fauna in this rib-tickling, physics-driven adventure game where you control each leg individually.

Created by the minds behind Ape Out and Getting Over It, stumble and wobble across an epic mountain in hilarious ways thanks to the full simulated physics-based walking. Utilise Nate’s underused Achilles tendons to avoid many hazards, humans, and apathetic animals. Enjoy a dynamic soundtrack that adapts to both your steps and missteps, using over 420 beats and sounds to bring the world to life. 

9. Silent Hill f

Uncover the disturbing beauty hidden in terror

Back to the Horror genre with the newest instalment in the Silent Hill franchise. In Silent Hill f, experience the franchise’s first game set in 1960s Japan. You’ll play as high school student Hinako Shimizu, who must fend off the sudden horrors that have arrived in her hometown of Ebisugaoka after a mysterious fog suddenly appeared. As the town falls silent and the fog thickens, Hinako must navigate the twisted paths of Ebisugaoka, solving complex puzzles and confronting grotesque monsters to survive.

Discover a new chapter in the Silent Hill franchise, blending psychological horror with a haunting Japanese setting. Silent Hill f‘s world was imagined by renowned author Ryukishi07, known for their novel Higurashi When They Cry. Enjoy entrancing music by Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage, who worked on previous Silent Hill games. Immerse yourself with Silent Hill f‘s beautiful visuals in a gripping tale of doubt, regret, and inescapable choices. 10. Sonic Racing: Crossworlds

Finally, our last pick is Sonic the Hedgehog‘s next adventure within the world of racing games. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has you race across land, sea, air, space, and time. Speed to victory solo or as a team in a variety of offline and online modes. Compete against players in Grand Prix either online or in local split-screen. Compete against a community of players from around the world with up to 12 players online in World Match, test your driving skills in Time Trials, and experience the new party mode, Race Park.
