Top 10 Best Games Releasing In October (2025)

We’ve now entered the spookiest month of the year! October is here, and we’ve got another month of big game releases (arguably the chunkiest month this year) where we’ll be broke before we get to November. Last month, we had an absolute feast of great games to become addicted to for hours on end. We finally got the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong in all its glory, a terrifying trip to Japan in Silent Hill f, overpowered bosses in Borderlands 4, and raced against our friends in Sonic Racing: Crossworlds. 

Now that we’re in October, we continue our ten-game momentum with mostly a month of sequels. From classic games to recent award winners, we’re getting exciting and innovative sequels to keep us busy. Alongside all these sequels, we will be getting some new IPs, including some from renowned studios and one featuring former developers from Telltale Games. Enough of my rambling, let us get down to business and show you what we believe are the best games for October (2025).

1. Ghost of Yotei

Explore the beautiful, rugged landscape of northern Japan on a perilous hunt

To start October, we have the standalone sequel to Sucker Punch’s samurai epic, Ghost of Yōtei. Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, you play as a lone mercenary named Atsu. Seeking vengeance for her family’s death, Atsu’s journey across Ezo brings her to unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws. Throughout her journey, Atsu will come across unlikely allies, each with their own talents and motivations. Engage in melee and ranged combat while building an exciting arsenal of weapons. Train with masters to learn new gear, hone your skills, and forge your own playstyle.  

Alongside new weapon-specific techniques, Atsu can learn a range of core abilities. From disarming enemies and turning their weapons against them, to mounted tackles and calling upon her wolf companion to aid in battle. Take in the perilous, picturesque lands around Mount Yōtei, from wildflower fields to snow-capped ridges and beyond. Travel on foot or horseback, and discover a range of optional activities like visiting shrines, Sumi-e painting, and more to enhance your abilities. Set up camp to rest, reflect, and prepare for the next leg of the journey. Meet with allies who visit your campsite to offer unique upgrades or items. 

2. Bye Sweet Carole

Embark on a dark, whimsical tale full of mystery, intrigue and secrets.

Next, we have something for horror fans that want something unique. Bye Sweet Carole is a chilling narrative-horror game inspired by classic animation movies. The story is created by Chris Darril (Remothered Series), and is set in the early 1900s during the age when the women’s suffrage movement had begun to shake the British nation. Play as young Lana Benton in search of her best friend, Carole Simmons. While uncovering the dark truth behind the Bunny Hall Orphanage, Lana will find herself poised between the real world and the kingdom of Corolla. However, whilst venturing through the worlds, Lana must tread carefully for Corolla is under the influence of terrifying foes, making it difficult to get yourself home safe and sound. 

Immerse yourself in a hand-drawn universe brought to life using cinematographic techniques inspired by the greatest animated movies. Encounter a vibrant cast of characters, from your loyal friend Mr Baesie to the malevolent owl Velenia and the terrifying Mr Kyn. Use Shape-shifting powers to transform yourself into a rabbit and harness your various forms to conquer the deadly challenges that await you. Bye Sweet Carole provides a unique journey formed from the union of 2 opposed genres, a traditional animated fairy tale from the world of cinematic animation and old school survival horror with platform elements. 

3. Battlefield 6

Your squad is the deadliest weapon in Battlefield 6’s high-intensity infantry combat

Our next pick is for fans of military multiplayer shooters with the next instalment in the Battlefield franchise. Battlefield 6 aims to provide the ultimate all-out warfare experience in battles involving tanks, fighter jets, and massive combat arsenals. Rip through the skies in aerial dogfights. 4. Little Nightmares 3

Two young friends, lost in a frightening world not made for children

Another hit for us horror fans, Little Nightmare III is finally upon us, though with a new developer leading the charge. In the third instalment of Little Nightmares, play as Low and Alone, two best friends trying to find a way out of the Nowhere. Each of them possesses their own unique items: a bow for Low and a wrench for Alone. Don’t be too distracted by the desolate beauty of the Nowhere. Dark mysteries are waiting for you as Low and Alone follow their mirror path across the Spiral. Each new location will become more dangerous and disturbing than the last. Little Nightmares III will feature online co-op, but can be played solo with an AI partner. Together you’ll solve puzzles and survive this nightmarish world. 

No matter where you go, the Nowhere is home to many horrific monsters. These creatures won’t hesitate to capture any intrusive little visitors that draw their attention. You might find yourself playing a terrifying game of hide and seek with a Monster Baby in the sandy ruins of the Necropolis, struggling to avoid swarms of voracious Candy Weevils in an unsettling Candy Factory, or dodging heavy feet while running along the rain-soaked promenade of a filthy funfair. You’ll need to be ready to run, hide, or even defend yourself at a moment’s notice to stay in one piece.

5. Keeper

Journey into realms beyond understanding as a walking lighthouse

For anyone looking for a unique adventure with fun puzzles, look no further than Double Fine’s newest creation, Keeper. From the creators of Stacking, Headlander, RAD, and Psychonauts, Keeper is a beautiful and surreal third-person, atmospheric, puzzle adventure that tells a story without words. In this atmospheric puzzle adventure, you play as a long-forgotten lighthouse that has come to life. Awakened and ready to go, you embark upon a heartening tale of unlikely companionship with your companion, a spirited seabird. Explore an island in a long-lost sea set in a post-human world, after our time in the sun has long since passed. Witness an odyssey of mystifying metamorphosis as you journey towards the centre of the island, into realms beyond understanding.

6. Ninja Gaiden 4

Prepare for a legacy reborn with captivating style for a new generation of players

What’s that, another classic series getting a brand new entry years later? Enter Ninja Gaiden 4. The definitive ninja action-adventure franchise returns in a new cutting-edge adventure where legacy meets innovation. In Ninja Gaiden 4, an endless rain of miasma hangs over a near-future Tokyo in the wake of an ancient enemy’s resurrection. 7. Painkiller

Another classic game is returning with our next pick, Painkiller, a cooperative action game where you fight relentless demonic hordes. Trapped in Purgatory, you are sentenced for your transgressions against Heaven; however, the voice of the Creator gives you a chance for redemption. Play as one of four distinctive characters, Ink, Void, Sol and Roch. Take advantage of their unique perks to boost your energy, health, power and damage. Painkiller is a reimagining of the classic franchise, featuring co-op play for up to three players and full offline support. Challenge a variety of enemies ranging from hordes of smaller demons to titanic terrors. Utilise tarot cards to enhance your abilities and combine them with other players to obliterate your foes.

8. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society or rally against it.

After quite a while of waiting and a few studio changes, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is finally here. Developed by BAFTA award-winning studio, The Chinese Room (Still Wakes The Deep, Dear Esther), explore the mean streets of Seattle as a recently awakened elder vampire. You play as the Nomad, who, after a century-long slumber, must now embrace the modern world. Luckily, you’re not alone in this transition; you’re accompanied by a vampire detective known as Fabien, who is trapped in your blood. They’ll guide you as you explore 21st-century Seattle and as you investigate a cold case from a hundred years ago that threatens undead and mortal society alike. In the story, your choices, plots, and schemes will determine the balance of power and what becomes of the city and its people.

Navigate the vampire Court of Seattle and its dark underbelly in this action RPG where visceral vampire action meets a neo-noir murder mystery. Stalk and feed on the city’s population at night by using supernatural powers or raw persuasion to lure them into dark alleys and slake your Hunger. However, be cautious about breaking the Masquerade: revealing your true nature risks reprisals, starting with law enforcement and escalating from there. Experience immersive, visceral combat that rewards various playstyles and approaches based on which vampire clan you choose. 

9. Dispatch

Explore what it means to be a hero, whether you’re wearing a cape or behind a desk

Next is the return of Telltale-esque storytelling with Dispatch, a superhero workplace comedy where choices matter. Dispatch features the writers and directors of Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us. In Dispatch, you’ll be managing a dysfunctional team of misfit heroes and strategising who to send on emergencies around the city. You play as Robert Robertson, aka Mecha Man, whose mech-suit is destroyed in a battle against his nemesis. This forces Robert to take a job at a superhero dispatch centre as a dispatcher. You’ll be in charge of rehabilitating a group of ex-supervillains. Manage your roster while navigating office relationships and rebuilding your suit for a shot at revenge. Dispatch features an all-star cast from every corner of entertainment, from the likes of Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, Jeffrey Wright and even talent like Jacksepticeye and MoistCr1TiKaL. 

In Dispatch, every decision you make influences the unfolding narrative. From banter in the breakroom to life-or-death situations in the field, your choices affect your relationships with the heroes, their allegiances, and the path your own story takes. Use the strategy map to review ongoing emergencies and deploy the right (or wrong) heroes to deal with them. 10. The Outer Worlds 2

Get ready for an action-packed adventure in a brand new colony!

Finally, we end this packed month with another sequel, this time for the award-winning first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. In The Outer Worlds 2, play as a daring and most likely good-looking Earth Directorate agent who is tasked to uncover the source of devastating rifts that threaten to destroy all of humanity. Your investigation leads to Arcadia, home of skip drive technology, where the fate of the colony, and ultimately the entire galaxy, rests on your decisions. Arcadia is engulfed in a factional war, as the Protectorate’s so-called benevolent rule is challenged by the rebellion of their religious order and a corporate invasion. Navigate diverse zones, uncover hidden lore, and shape the fate of a system on the brink of collapse.
