Some missions in Caravan SandWitch are short and sweet, able to be completed in a matter of minutes – providing you have a good idea of what you’re doing and where you’re going. Fortunately, a lot of missions in Caravan SandWitch are straightforward. However, there is the odd one that might take a little longer, mainly because you don’t know where you’re meant to be looking. The Chapter 3 mission SOS Inconsolable Baby is one of them. This mission involves you having to find the lost rattle of baby Abricot. Although the mission is meant to be easy – and it is – it can be easy to miss where you’re looking for and spend ages looking in the wrong place. That’s why we put this guide together, so we can not only point you in the right direction, but tell you exactly where you need to go to find Abricot’s lost rattle in Caravan SandWitch.

How to Start SOS Inconsolable Baby

The official title of this quest is SOS Inconsolable Baby, but I – and probably several other Caravan SandWitch players – know is as the lost rattle quest. It appears as a chapter-exclusive quest in Chapter 3. You’ll be alerted to it in Toaster.

To start the quest, go and speak to Olivier in Estello. He’ll be outside his living space. He’ll be marked on your map as well so you can locate him.

Olivier is in a bit of a pickle. He’s meant to be minding his infant child Abricot, only Abricot has lost their favorite rattle, and Abricot is in pieces. The only way to get Abricot to calm down is by finding their rattle. The problem is, Olivier doesn’t know where it is – and that’s where you come in. You have to go out and find it.

Fortunately, to make your life easier, Olivier remembers that he and Abricot were at the beach, not too far from Rose’s Retreat. To make things even easier for you, the area has been highlighted by a circle on your map, so you know exactly where to look. This does certainly narrow the search down significantly, however, it can still be tricky to locate the first time.

Where to Find Abricot’s Lost Rattle

The beach is very close to Estello, but you should drive there in the van: you’ll be needing it! Go to the beach as indicated on the map. You should see a chair and parasol, like someone’s been spending the day there.

During the quest, the search area is marked on your map to make it easier to locate Abricot's rattle.

Don’t waste your time getting out of the van and searching manually on the beach for Abricot’s rattle. For one thing, it’s not actually on the beach itself. Second, there’s a much quicker and better way to look around your environment without having to get out of your van: your scanner!

Equip the antenna tool, then press the Scan button to sweep the environment. This excellent tool brings up any items of interest nearby, such as components… and rattles! The rattle is a tiny object, but should show up as bright turquoise using the scanner. Hover the reticle over it and you should see the item marked as “Rattle”. If you’re having trouble locating it, it’s out in the rocks opposite the chair and parasol. Make sure that you Mark it once you find it, so you can easily locate it when you go to pick it up.

With the rattle located, you now need to collect it. Get out of the van and go on foot out to the rocks. Don’t worry, it’s not really deep in the water out here. Sauge won’t swim, but she does move slower when wading.

The rattle is actually sitting in a little crevice on the rock. It’s orange, yellow, and red in color to make it easier to spot. Once you reach the rattle, pick it up.

Take the Rattle Back to Olivier and Abricot

You found the rattle! Make sure you collect it, then head back to Estello where Oliver and Abricot are. Speak to them to return the rattle and the Caravan SandWitch quest will be done and dusted.

Olivier (and Abricot) are very grateful for the trouble you went to and reward you with some components: 9 common, 5 uncommon, 3 rare, and 1 exceptional. Doing this quest is worth the time and trouble because of these components you earn. You’ll need them for your van’s upgrades, and since exceptional components are needed later and are hard to come by, gaining any from any quests, no matter how big or small, is worth doing.

If you want to do more quests surrounding Olivier and baby Abricot, why not gather all the toys around Cigalo for them? We’ve got a guide just for that if you’re interested.
