Caravan SandWitch: How to Complete Lamarr’s Say Goodbye Quest

If you're having a little trouble completing the Say Goodbye quest set by the robot Lamarr in Caravan SandWitch, this guide will take you through what to do. It may not be the longest side quest, but it's looking for the required items that can make it tricky.

Caravan SandWitch How to Complete Lamarr's Say Goodbye Quest

Every character you meet in Caravan SandWitch has their own backstory and life. Some of these you can explore either through dialogue or side quests. One such example is Lamarr, a robot you meet about halfway through the game. However, it’s not until a later chapter of Caravan SandWitch that Lamarr has a special task for you to help them complete, and it’s quite a moving one. Lamarr wants you to help them create a place of rest for their deceased robot child. While this isn’t the most difficult mission in Caravan SandWitch by any means, what can get a little tricky is locating the requested items. If you haven’t fully explored Cigalo or even know what you’re looking for, it can be a bit puzzling. To help you out, this guide will show you what you need to do to complete Lamarr’s Say Goodbye quest in Caravan SandWitch.

It should be noted that this quest is worth doing because you earn a few of each type of components for your trouble, including rare and exceptional ones.

How to Get To and Start Lamarr’s Say Goodbye Quest

Before you can even start this quest for Lamarr, you have to wait until Chapter 5 in Caravan SandWitch, which is when it will appear along with a few other quests. Note that the Say Goodbye quest is time-limited to this chapter, so you must complete the quest before the end of Chapter 5.

Once you reach Chapter 5, Say Goodbye will become available. It will appear in Toaster to alert you, then it will remain there and keep track of your progress until the end of the quest.

To start the Say Goodbye quest, you need to find Lamarr. They won’t be at their usual hangout at the Refuge, but instead be standing by a small building not too far away. Lamarr will be marked on the map for you.

Lamarr is often found at the Refuge with the other robots - except for the Say Goodbye quest in Chapter 5.

Head over to Lamarr and speak to them. They’ll explain their situation: their child Lovelace was shut down and they want to give them a place to rest in peace and say goodbye (hence the name of the quest). They have the idea of putting Lovelace in a tomb, aka the small building they’re at. Sauge agrees to help them. Lamarr states that in Lovelace’s tomb, they’d like to put in some flowers and an item representing Lovelace. Lamarr mentions that Lovelace used to like music, and somewhere where they lived, there should be an instrument. Sauge points out that the Refuge is huge and could be anywhere, but then Lamarr leaves a hint that they spent a lot of time up in the tower of the Refuge. This is a clue you should remember. As for the flowers, these too can be found at the Refuge, specifically the first floor (or ground floor).

And with that, the Say Goodbye quest officially begins.

Where to Find Flowers for Lovelace’s Tomb

To summarize this quest, you need to find two things for Lamarr and the tomb they’re preparing for Lovelace: some flowers and a musical instrument. Both these can be found at the Refuge, nowhere else, so don’t worry about looking elsewhere. This means you can concentrate your search in one particular area.

Lamarr's location and the Refuge are close together, so it's not a long journey between each destination.

Let’s start with the flowers, as this is the easiest thing to find for the quest. Drive over to the Refuge, which isn’t far away from Lamarr’s position. You’ll need the van to access the interior ground floor, where the flowers are located. If you’ve visited the Refuge already, you may have noticed some distinctive orange flowers poking out of the sandy ground in the downstairs chamber. These are the flowers Lamarr wants you to get for them.

There are quite a few of these flowers in the room (about 4 or 5), but you only need 2 to fulfil the flower request. You can collect more by all means, but don’t feel you have to. Once you have the flowers, it’s time to look for the instrument. This is a little trickier to locate, but not impossible.

The flowers are very easy to locate and gather. They're in the chamber beyond the hacked door on the ground level.

Where to Find an Instrument That Represents Lovelace

For the next part, you need to ascend to the very top of the Refuge, namely the tower that Lamarr talked about. By this point in the game, you’ve probably been up here already to activate the relay for the first receptacle. That area is where you need to get to.

Get up to the area where the robots are based. From here, you can access the Refuge’s tower. Go up the steps onto the platform where the tower is located, then make your way over to the end until you find a ladder. Climb up it onto the next platform. Cross over to the platform and push the switch to open the door. Go through and head left, where you should find another ladder. Going up this one leads up to a small area.

In this space, you’ll find a few things of note: a lookout spot, a toy octopus (unless you’ve already collected one here or elsewhere), maybe a few components, and a door that needs Sauge to stand on a platform to open. Get the door open to progress up the tower.

Inside, you’ll see a ladder. Ascend this ladder, and the other after that on the next landing. At the top, you’ll come across another switch. Interact with it to activate the bridge to cross the gap, allowing you to go along the platform around the outside of the tower. Eventually, you’ll come to another ladder that you need to climb. Finally, you’ll make it to the very top of the Refuge tower, where the receptacle relay is.

Now you’re at the very top of the tower, take a good look around. You may notice a hole in the floor which has a ladder going into it. Jump through this hole and you’ll find yourself in the tower’s control room.

The instrument Lamarr requested is in this very room. Specifically, what you’re looking for is a keyboard. When you come down the ladder, look to the far left of the room, where the windows are. In the middle between two windows, you’ll see a keyboard leaning against the wall. (Interestingly enough, if you visit the control room earlier before the quest, the instrument won’t be there.) Go over to it and pick it up to add to your inventory.

You now have everything Lamarr asked for! You can now complete the quest!

Completing the Say Goodbye Quest

With the flowers and instrument collected, it’s time to return to Lamarr to hand them over.

Lamarr’s in the exact same place as before, so head over to them and the tomb. Speak to Lamarr to hand the items over. They will be very grateful for your efforts. Sauge will then stay with Lamarr while the items are placed in Lovelace’s tomb, and then say a few words.

That’s not quite the end of the quest though. The final step has you sealing the tomb by closing the door. To do this, you need to get into the van, use the grapple hook on the door, and then pull on it to get it to close.

Lamarr will thank you, and as a reward for their appreciation, you get a selection of components: 7 common, 7 uncommon, 4 rare, and 4 exceptional. And with that, Lamarr’s Say Goodbye quest in Caravan SandWitch is done and dusted!
