After an exciting month of game releases, March has arrived and with that even more exciting game releases. It just never ends! We’re once again providing our picks for the coming month while also giving a small recap of what went down last month. February was truly the month of live-service games as we started with the long-awaited new entry in the Arkhamverse, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League released with mixed reviews.
Not long after we were given the sci-fi shooter Helldivers 2 which took the gaming community by storm, filling servers to the point developers had to increase them. Later in February, Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones was released, bringing back the love of sailing the seven seas. Finally right at the end, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth emerged and is currently bringing us all back to the epic story that was left from the first part of the trilogy.
Now we look towards March where another month of unique games are ahead of us. We have a few ports releasing on other platforms from previously exclusive games to ones releasing on updated hardware. There are some highly anticipated titles, exclusives, and a few spooky games. Well let’s not delay any further, here are eight games to look out for in March (2024).
The Outlast Trials
Starting March with some intense and horrific thrills is the cooperative next entry in the Outlast series. Developed by Red Barrels, The Outlast Trials invites players to a mind-numbing new experience of terror, so bring a friend. Complete the trials ahead with up to 4 players though don’t worry you can play the experience solo. The Outlast Trials was originally released on PC last year, but now it’s coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on March 5th.
What We Know About The Outlast Trials
Going away from the previous title’s religious forest setting and themes. The Outlast Trials is set in the era of the Cold War inside a facility owned by the Murkoff Corporation. You’ll play as one of the numerous volunteers turned human guinea pigs, going through the twisted trials in the name of science. The main objective is to complete all of the trials the mad puppet masters of the Murkoff Corporation set loose on you, and hopefully earn the right to be released back into society. You’ll play through both Trials and Mk-Challenges. Trials are more immersive narrative-focused therapies that require a good amount of time to complete. Mk-Challenges are shorter therapies that occur in modified or redesigned sections of an existing map.
Continuing the Outlast formula, the gameplay mostly revolves around you avoiding enemies by hiding from them or running away. The Murkoff Corporation happily provide tools to use to increase your chances. However, you’ll have to earn them and work exceptionally hard to improve them. You can use tools for stunning and blinding enemies, seeing through walls, and healing yourself or your allies. Tackle the trials by yourself or with teams of 2, 3, or 4 players. Cooperative play isn’t essential for completing objectives but having a friend in this nightmare can be highly beneficial. Let your creativity sore with the customisation options for both your playable character and your cell. Meet the denizens of Murkoff’s Sinyala Facility, each one of them will try and help you get through the Trials in one piece. Think you’ll make it?
Reveil
Want another horror game? Well, our next pick is the psycho-thriller, Reveil, developed by Pixelsplit. Reveil promises to offer a deeply psychological experience that will keep players questioning everything they know. It’s set around the 1960s pulling many inspirations from the circus era. Delve into the madness when Reveil releases on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
What We Know About Reveil
In Reveil, you play as family man Walter Thompson, who discovers that his wife and daughter are missing. Determined to find answers, Walter embarks on a quest through fragmented memories in a haunting and twisted environment. To reunite with his family and escape, Walter will need to complete tasks that will further explore his psyche. It’s a race against time, with each step, the game’s eerie atmosphere intensifies, making it more difficult to escape.
Reveil consists of five acts containing intricately crafted environments with a plentiful supply of puzzles to solve. Overall you’ll experience a narrative-driven adventure involving the protagonist being on the brink of madness, leaving you pondering your own perceptions of reality. Reveil features first-person gameplay that’s found in many horror games. During this haunting tale, you’ll stumble upon riddling tasks that can help unlock parts of Walter’s past. Be immersed into a world, designed with attention to detail, where the boundaries between reality and illusion become blurred.

Similar to our last pick, we have another game port but this time it’s for a game released last year. Developed by Tango Gameworks, HI-FI Rush is a colourful rhythm-based action game. Take on the evil megacorp with a ragtag group of misfits armed with the power of music. HI-FI Rush releases for the PS5 on March 19th and will include all of the post-game DLC that was added, such as the Power Up! Tower Up! and BPM Rush modes.
What We Know About HI-FI Rush
In HI-FI Rush you play as wannabe rockstar Chai whose heart was mistakingly fused with an old music player. Due to this error, he’s been labelled a defect by the definitely not evil superpowered tech company. Using the power of his defect, Chai can take on hordes of enemies by following the rhythm in his heart. He won’t be alone in this rock rebellion, Chai’s squad of colourful teammates will lend a hand against the heartless corporation. They’ll face off against every department leader of the corporation in fearsome boss fights accompanied by their own music tracks.
The general gameplay is pretty much a third-person hack-and-slash game but with a musical twist. All your actions will automatically sync up to the music but if you get into the groove then Chai can perform devastating Beat Hits, extra-flashy combos, team-up attacks with allies, and more. Upgrade Chai’s skills throughout the story so that you can achieve S-Rank scores on level replays. With HI-FI Rush mixing music with combat, the actual soundtrack has many killer tracks from licensed artists. Enjoy listening to tracks from Nine Inch Nails, The Black Keys, The Prodigy and more. Fear not streamers, in streamer mode you can still rock out with an original soundtrack featuring The Glass Pyramids, Shuichi Kobori, REO, Masatoshi Yanagi and more.
Alone In The Dark

THQ Nordic is bringing back Alone In The Dark for the next generation. Set in the Deep South during the 1920s, choose between two protagonists who are voiced by David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Jodie Comer (Killing Eve). Play as either Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood as you embark on a journey to Derceto Manor to search for the missing Jeremy Hartwood. The manor is home to the mentally ill where something sinister is lurking. Both characters have complex motivations for coming to Derceto, and their actions are tainted by individual past traumas. Encounter strange residents, nightmarish realms, and dangerous monsters while uncovering the uneasy truth of Derceto Manor.
The gameplay for Alone In The Dark is reimagined by using a more modernised third-person over-the-shoulder perspective. Matching the style of horror games, Resident Evil and Alan Wake. Enjoy the thrill of desperate survival in a world where reality starts to crumble, evil lurks in every shadow and ammunition is scarce. Like in the original Alone In The Dark, players will have the choice of playing as either Edward or Emily, effectively giving you two separate story arcs and perspectives to experience as you unravel the mystery. The game’s soundtrack aims to bring a haunting atmosphere but also a mesmerizing doom jazz soundtrack by Jason Köhnen.
