Dead Island 2 Releases to Steam

Dead Island 2 releases on April 22nd 2024 on Steam.

Whilst the game has been out on consoles for a year now, Dead Island 2 is receiving its long-awaited PC release this April. One of the biggest horror games of 2023, with it receiving a nomination for ‘Best Action Game’ at the Game Awards, it is now coming to Steam. Developed by Damnbuster Studios, the second main entry in the series brings the over-the-top zombie carnage to Los Angeles.

Dead Island 2 is a first-person action-horror-roleplaying game that pits the player, either solo or in co-op, against hordes of the undead. The infection that destroyed Banoi has spread to the City of Angels. Pick 1 of 6 characters to develop into a zombie slayer, with gory combatant and dismemberment through the sunny streets as you search for a cure to your bites. The games dark humour and exaggerated melee violence is a great choice for PC players looking to scratch that zombie itch.

Pine Harbor

Pine Harbor releases on 25th April 2024 on PC.

For those looking for the Silent Hill or Resident Evil Village atmosphere, consider the upcoming Pine Harbor. It’s the first project by Vision Forge Team, and the moody, mist covered town boasts some strong atmosphere and graphics. If survival horror is your cup of tea, then Pine Harbor should be on your radar.

The game takes place in Atlantic fishing village Pine Harbor. Amongst the cliffs, mist and forests the town lies devastated by a technological disaster, with monsters lurking in the ruins. Find resources, craft tools and explore as you unravel the mystery. Search for secrets and save the residents as best you can.

Level Unknown: Backrooms

Level Unknown: Backrooms releases on 24th April 2024 on PC.

Liminal horror Level Unknown: Backrooms is a delivering a solo and cooperative experience inspired by the popular online horror setting. The game places you in the labyrinthine realm of the backrooms, as you solve puzzles, face entities and uncover the secrets of the strange ‘in-between place’. The developers, Podarge Visions and Wotjek Gola, have stated in the steam page that Level Unknown ‘Faithfully reproduces the Backrooms lore, capturing its key themes and atmosphere.’

Play alone, or with up to 4 teammates as you head into the mysterious realm of The Backrooms. The place gets stranger as you move further and further into its corridors. Find fragments of information as you learn more about its denizens and victims and do your best to survive.

Demonsomnia

Demonsomnia releases April 2024 on Steam, with a specific release date yet to be announced.

Co-op survival horror Demonsomnia is the next on our list of the biggest horror games releasing this April. Developed by Woziva the game is a first-person shooter designed to look like it’s coming from a bodycam that aims to the give the game a realistic feel. Work together in teams of up to 4 as you investigate demons in an irradiated forest and village.

A nuclear meltdown has seeped radiation into a nearby forest village, mutating creatures and unleashing a demon. 4 soldiers are sent to investigate the strange beings found in the exclusion zone. Whether its mutations, hallucinations, or something supernatural, your task is to find and subdue it. Made with Unreal Engine 5, the bodycam style looks fantastic and immersive.

SCP: Event Classified

SCP: Event Classified releases on 26th April 2024 on PC.

The final entry on our list of the biggest horror games releasing this April is SCP: Event Classified. Another popular online horror series getting its latest video game adaptation is the iconic SCP, with Event Classified developed by Archotech. This iteration brings some new features that sound great for fans of SCP. SCP: Event Classified is a shooter, with up to 120 players in a session with you getting to be a soldier, prisoner, scientist of monster. Unite and cooperate or competescv to survive the anomalies controlled by AI or other players. The developers have also stated they are going to use less common SCPs to give the game a unique feel, along with a variety of game modes set in different times and situations.

In the supposedly secure compounds of the SCP foundation, hundreds of scientists, prisoners and soldiers live together trying to contain or destroy the deadly supernatural anomalies. When containment is breached the fight for survival begins with horrifying monsters hunting you and warping reality. Your objectives change depending on your characters role. Be wary of humans as well, as they’ll do anything required of them to survive.
