Marvel: 5 Other Teams That Deserve a Game

Marvel: 5 Other Teams That Deserve A Game Cover

Marvel’s Avengers is the newest team-up to grace a video game. Marvel has had a storied history of team mash-up titles from X-Men Legends to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. In contrast, all eyes are glued on the most famous Marvel superhero team as of late. Although, we have come to love the dynamic relationship between Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and others. There are quite a handful of Marvel teams that are deserving of the video game spotlight, as well. The Avengers have been popular through various media, including movies, TV shows, and comics. Heck, they were apart of the biggest cinematic universe in movie history. In a way, it could feel a little bit repetitive. Not to say it isn’t interesting, but maybe we can see another Marvel team game.

Bringing out a new Marvel team game can flesh out the Marvel Universe, offering new perspectives, stories, and character developments. Other Marvel groups, such as the X-Men, for example, is a testament to this idea. We have enjoyed our fair share of mayhem with Wolverine, Storm, and other mutants within the franchise. Let’s not forget the countless battles with Capcom’s colorful cast of characters. It would be interesting to play as a whole new Marvel group. Let’s take a look at 5 other Marvel teams that deserve their own exciting game.

1. X-Force

Deadpool, Deadpool, Deadpool!

Deadpool, Deadpool, Deadpool!

It’s time for the chimichangas!” To quote one Merc with a Mouth, let’s feast on a new game featuring Deadpool. However, let’s include his ragtag group called the X-Force as well for some fun, shall we? The team could feature some interesting characters to play with, from the time-traveling tough guy Cable to the luckiest woman alive, Domino. It could be a sequel to Deadpool’s first outing back on Xbox 360 and PS3. We can imagine the hilarious dialogue Deadpool can bring to the table.

In contrast, the relationship dynamic between characters will be sure to have players laughing their heads off. X-Force has excellent potential to be a fun beat-em with its diverse cast characters. If they are popular enough to be featured in Fortnite, I am sure a full game title would do great. I hope there are plenty of pop culture references and fourth-wall breaking Deadpool is known for included, as well.

2. Web Warriors

Basically Into The Spiderverse The Game

Basically Into The Spiderverse The Game

Slinging into action with Spider-Man and other web crawlers would make a dream come true for Spidey fans everywhere. You could say that Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions kind of had this premise with multiple spider-men. The game did feature creative ideas that featured different play styles for each of the four Spidey iterations. Not only that, but each Spider-Man had different abilities, settings, and villain versions. Web Warriors consists of the team featured in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, including Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Noir, and Spider-Ham. Imagine having access to a whole assortment of Spider-men (and women) to swing around in the vast city of New York. Also, epic fights against Spidey’s greatest foes and enemies the likes of the Green Goblin, Sandman, Kingpin, and Venom.

This would create an assortment of great ideas from a co-op game that allows for players to swing through the buildings of Manhattan with friends or a single-player experience. Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4) set the bar for Spidey games in the future with Spider-Man: Miles Morales on the horizon. Could we perhaps introduce a multiverse in a Spidey game universe, as well?

3. Sinister Six

Could the Sinister Six get their revenge on Spidey in a spin-off?

Could the Sinister Six get their revenge on Spidey in a spin-off?

Suppose you are tired of being a good guy. Maybe be a bad one? Although Spidey’s multiverse is interesting, Spidey’s rogue’s gallery is something to check out—especially the Sinister Six. The Sinister Six consists of Spidey’s greatest villains, including Doctor Octopus, Rhino, Sandman, Electro, Kraven The Hunter, and Vulture. The members are interchangeable depending on the media, but join together in eliminating Spider-Man. The Sinister Six does appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4), which features Mister Negative and Shocker instead of Kraven and Sandman. It would be an experimental concept, which results in a different perspective of a villain. Perhaps a tie-in or spin-off would make for an exciting game. We have seen this idea somewhat in Spider-Man: Friend or Foe, but a Sinister Six game would be all foe and no friend.

Also, it would be the perfect counterpart to the recently announced DC game, Justice League: Kill The Justice League. Wouldn’t it be fun to toss vehicles using Doc Ock’s mechanical arms or fly through the skies as Electro? I think it would be cool and offer something inventive, as well as unleashing your sinister side.

4. Fantastic Four

A proper Fantastic Four game and movie please?

A proper Fantastic Four game and movie please?

Yes, Fantastic Four did receive a game in the form of the movie tie-in featuring Jessica Alba. However, what about a non-movie game for the Fantastic Four? It almost seems like the Fantastic Four is one of the most ignored superhero teams. Although featured in several subpar movies, the Fantastic Four doesn’t have much of a presence in video games. Mr. Fantastic made a cameo in the PS1 version of Spider-Man, the Thing was in Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance, and you can race against the Human Torch in Ultimate Spider-Man. However, it seems like they are never together in video games. So much for being a team. They are the perfect group for four-player co-op since there are four heroes to choose from.

It just seems like this team deserves more respect in both the video game and movie department. Like, come on, this is the same team that fought against arguably the most powerful villain in Galactus. As well as on many occasions, thwarted the calculating villain Doctor Doom. At least Doom had more video game appearances thanks to the Marvel vs. Capcom series. Also, it would be even nicer if we got a Future Foundation DLC or expansion with Spider-Man included. This co-op game would be a fantastic idea.

5. Inhumans

Inhuman team of Black Bolt, Medusa, and others.

Inhuman team of Black Bolt, Medusa, and others.

Ah yes, the Inhumans. This group was supposed to receive a movie that tied into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it was canceled. As a result, we received a very dismal TV show adaptation that didn’t quite reach the star power that Agents of Shield received. While the Guardians of the Galaxy may dominate the galactic popularity contest, the Inhumans would be a close second. The Inhumans features a very diverse group of characters with insane powers and abilities. The Inhumans members consist of Black Bolt, Madusa, Triton, Crystal, and everyone’s lovable doggo, Lockjaw. There are more members of this team, which could make for plenty of fun gameplay. The Inhumans had subtle appearances in Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance and animated TV show appearances.

The destruction that Black Bolt’s voice could produce would make the damage in The Hulk: Ultimate Destruction looks like child’s play. A game featuring the Inhumans will be a perfect way to get familiar with the characters, at least for the casual Marvel fans. Relatively unknown groups like the Guardians of the Galaxy’s popularity skyrocketed after the movies. Since the Inhumans won’t receive a film, what about a video game instead?
