After PC release of tower defence game Defend Your Life, Alda Games returned to its roots lying in development of games for mobile devices (the newest game is Save the Snail 2 for iOS, Android and Windows Phone).
But PC gaming is still important and interesting for Alda Games and Killing Room is the best proof of it. This rogue-like FPS is named after fictional reality show from future and it will try to arouse gaming community’s interest during Steam Greenlight campaign to allow Alda Games publish game on Steam for all major platforms – Windows, Linux and Mac.
Player takes role of desperate contestant in reality show called Killing Room that brings only death or incredible wealth. Most people in 22nd century are very poor and Killing Room is the best chance to change otherwise inescapable despair and misery. Probability of winning/surviving lower than 0,001 % changes nothing on this. This reality show is the biggest success of entertainment in history with millions of loyal fans paying huge sums of money on subscription of exclusive TV channel and various bets connected to Killing Room. Year is 2150 and Killing Room celebrates 75th anniversary so be ready for something special (deadly special).
Killing Room is inspired by classics of rogue-like genre and by Doom and other straightforward shooters. It uses random generation and fun gunplay that is heavy dependent on your own skills with mouse and keyboard. It also uses RPG elements – you can enhance your character in many ways (Speed, Stamina, Max Health, Accuracy, Damage, Critical Hit Chance,…).
Probably the most important part of Killing Room gameplay is “Items”. They are looted from Boss corpses or locked storages or awarded to player after solving puzzles. Items are crucial because they are unique, nothing like “boots+1, boots+2, etc.” Many items can change gameplay by themselves so never miss an opportunity to obtain them.
Items are also full of black humour and pop culture references that make another layer of Killing Room. Killing Room TV host will serve similar purpose thanks to professional English voice overs.
