Anime NYC: TappyToon Has Ambitions to Lead Digital Comics
TappyToon has recently announced significant growth in the North American digital comic market – just in time for their debut presence at an industry event! Indeed, the mobile-centric platform for premium webtoons and digital comics had their first ever booth made for Anime NYC and, as a result, had a great opportunity to connect with prospective fans and the media about its service.

TappyToon specializes in English language Korean manhwa and manga delivered digitally via iPhone , Android and the TappyToon website. Based in Seoul, the company has managed to accrue the interest of highly influential firms like Digital Entertainment Ventures, SOSV, Bon Angels Ventures and more, all of which have aided TappyToon to expand further internationally.

Over 90% of TappyToon's users are female, making the platform a service that very much caters to an under-served part of the digital comic community. This is due in part to the presence of Bloody Sweet by Narae Lee, who is best known for producing the art for James Patterson’s best-selling graphic novel Maximum Ride.

TappyToon has ambitions to become the Netflix of webtoons, reducing the obstacles presented before webtoon patrons similarly to how Netflix and Spotify reduced the amount of obstacles audiences had to jump through to consume movies and music.

It remains to be seen how exactly the platform will expand in the future and how it will compete in the already expansive digital marketplace. Signs bode well for TappyToon now, so here's hoping that its success only continues.
