Yogscast celebrates raising $2.5 million for charity

Christmas is a time for giving, and Yogscast capture that concept perfectly. Their annual charity month raised the bar higher this year than ever before, as the wildly popular gaming network managed to raise over $2.5 million over the month of December. The event supported many charities, big and small, from a selection of over 3,000 to pick from.

After over 3000 videos and 7 million subscribers, Yogscast have proven time and time again that they are one of the most iconic channels on youtube. They have a reputation as a friendly and respectable channel, with most of their content being friendly for all age groups.

Further reinforcing this reputation is their annual charity month. Every December, Yogscast will team up with developers and charity to have fun, play games, and of course, raise money for a good cause. This past December has proven to be one of their most successful charity months yet, managing to raise a whopping $2.5 million for charity.

Yogscast were supported by over 50 game developers and publishers to great a HumbleBundle collection. These supporters added more than 60 games and gaming items which, for a $30 donation of their choice, fans could purchase. The bundle held an estimated value of $650, with new items unlocking every day in December. Six main charities were pre-selected: Mental Health Foundation, Cancer Research UK, Whale & Dolphin Conservation, ILGA Special Effect, and Games Aid UK. However, donors also had the option to instead choose another charity from a list of over 3,000 across the world.

This event was the fourth year of Yogscast's fundraising, and brings the total amount raised to over $6 million, a massive contribution to many worthy causes. Yogscast have undoubtedly set the bar high for fundraising, proving that entertaining content, a friendly atmosphere and loyal fans can make all the difference to someone less fortunate.
