This is the first piece of information we have received from the studio since Yakuza 8 was confirmed to be in production back in November 2021. We did get some details from the studio director Masayoshi Yokoyama who confirmed that the new entry will continue the story of Yakuza: Like A Dragon. It will be set a few years later in a new town, with new characters including Mikuru Asakura himself.

Finally, Yakuza 8 will still be remaining as a turn-based RPG after the big change from its arcade action combat. If you haven’t had the chance to play the Yakuza games, the entire series is available via Xbox Game Pass. Check out our review on Yakuza: Like A Dragon here.
