After much anticipation from fans, Sega has officially announced that remasters of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 will be released in the West. To kick things off, Yakuza 3 is available for purchase right now.
The trio of games have already been released in Japan, but they will be available to the western audience as part of the The Yakuza Remastered Collection. The collection will include all three games running at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second on the Playstation 4. The collection is defined as a remaster, meaning it will not be a full fledged Kiwami style remake that Yakuza and Yakuza 2 received.
Following today’s release of Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4 will unlock on October 29, 2019 and Yakuza 5 will unlock on February 11, 2020. A limited physical edition will release on February 11, 2020. The “Day One Edition” includes Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 on two discs, a collectible Yakuza 5 Playstation 3 case, and a red emblazoned case featuring Kiryu’s dragon.
Content that was previously cut from the western releases is confirmed to be inserted in the remasters. Mahjong, shogi, and the massage parlor will all be included.
With The Yakuza Remastered Collection coming to North America, all mainline Yakuza games starring protagonist Kazuma Kiryu will be available to play on the Playstation 4. Make sure to check out our review for Yakuza Kiwami.
