The Xbox Series S was the best-selling console on Black Friday, according to data company Adobe Digital Economy Index. The all-digital next-generation console from Microsoft outsold the Xbox Series X, PS5, and Nintendo Switch over the annual sales period. Sales figures from these competitors are currently not available.
As reported by Business Insider, Adobe Digital Economy Index claims they analysed over 1 trillion clicks to retail sites. They also surveyed over 1,000 retailers on what consoles were selling best during the Black Friday weekend. All data suggests Xbox’s ‘budget’ console coming out the most successful overall compared to its competitors.
The Xbox Series S sits alongside the Xbox Series X as the current consoles for Microsoft that launched in November 2020. Series S retails at $300/£250, with prices as low as $250/£220 in the Black Friday sales. Series S is also all-digital, implementing well with Xbox Game Pass. Despite this, it boasts just 512GB of internal storage. This has provided a challenge for gamers as new games push the boundaries, bringing larger storage sizes with them.
