It does not mean a sequel is coming to PlayStation or anything at all is being done with the IP. SIE could hold the patent or make something out of it. Since Insomniac was acquired by the Sony umbrella, it would make sense for one of its few developed games that were on another platform to come home with its other franchises like Ratchet & Clank and Spider-Man.
Sunset Overdrive was initially released on the Xbox One in 2014. In 2018, it arrived on PC with all of its additional content. The DLC included a weapon pack that had four new destructive toys for players and two campaigns titled The Mystery of Mooil Rig and Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines, which offered new challenges, a new portion of the map, and more. It was well-received by critics and fans alike. On Metacritic, it has an 81 on Xbox and an 83 on PC.
The studio has quite the past few years since its Xbox collaboration. It has had some of the biggest PlayStation releases in the past five years, with 2016’s Ratchet & Clank reimagining of the first entry of the franchise, 2018’s Spider-Man, 2020’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
