Fans of zombie shooter World War Z will be happy to hear the fun and frenetic co-op action is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in just three weeks. On January 24, a next-gen update will go live, enhancing the game with 4K visuals, smooth 60 fps, and more. And, best of all, the update will be free for those who already own it on PS4 or Xbox One.
While World War Z may have originally come out in 2019 to mixed reviews from critics, fans loved its fast-paced action and chaotic co-op experiences. It certainly helped that developer Saber Interactive has continued to support the game since launch with new updates and modes. This next-gen update as well as new tweaks to horde mode continue that trend.
Horde Mode XL
As well as a boost to visuals and framerate, January 24 also brings with it a couple of updates to the ever-popular Horde mode. The first of these updates is free to all players, regardless of console, and will introduce new mutators to help mix things up for zombie veterans.
The next, more impressive, update is next-gen and PC exclusive. Harnessing the increase in power and performance, World War Z on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC will receive the brand-new Horde Mode XL. As shown in the recently released trailer, this new mode’s main selling point is the fact that the hordes are bigger and faster than ever before, with waves of over 1000 flesh-eating zombies to mow down at as time.
All updates will be free to download.
Like the zombies it’s famous for, it seems World War Z will keep on shuffling into the future, growing and mutating with the times. And if you are a fan of zombies, check out these fantastic zombie games on Game Pass.
