NEWEST INSTALLMENT IN THE HALF-LIFE FRANCHISE IS A VR GAME
“Yes! Finally, after years of waiting, we’re finally going to get Half-Life 3! Wait, what do you mean it’s a completely different game, exclusive for VR?”. This, coupled with disappointing sighs was probably the reaction of 90% of the gaming populace when Half-Life: Alyx was announced. Despite our disappointment that we aren’t getting HL3, we feel like Alyx spark and renew interest in the VR market and bring about a great gaming experience. THE GAME AWARDS 2019 IS UPON US
2019 was a huge year in gaming and it’s going to be really difficult to choose which among them is best across multiple categories. Well, now we at least know which games made the cut for potential rewards with the announcement of the official list of nominees for The Game Awards 2019. With 30 categories and a substantial amount of games, we are probably in for the biggest show yet. POKEMON SWORD & SHIELD GREAT SALE RESULTS
Despite the Dexit controversy and to no one’s surprise, Pokémons Sword & Shield have exceeded sales expectations. While the number probably could have been a bit higher if there were no bad press, Pokemon still hit it out of the park with over 6 million units sold in its first week. This also made it surpass other Nintendo Switch exclusives to become the record holder for first-week sales. This number will probably continue growing and it will be interesting to see how much this phenomenon ends up selling in the long run. AMAZON PURPORTEDLY TO ANNOUNCE A GAME STREAMING SERVICE
The gaming environment is getting more crowded by the day. We recently had the release of Google Stadia and we’ll soon be getting a whole new generation of consoles to play around with. As if that wasn’t enough, the internet juggernaut – Amazon will purportedly soon enter the fray. There are more and more reports of them releasing something to coincide with the release of the next generation of gaming hardware. Given their dominant position in multiple industries, it was only a matter of time when they would decide to leave their mark on the gaming industry. TONY HAWK’S PRO SKATER 1 & 2 GETTING REMASTERED?
Sabi strikes again! The known gaming industry whistleblower graced us with news of Activision considering a remaster of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. Sabi reported that Activision internally had two prototypes of said remasters making the rounds but is unsure whether they are meant to be remastered or a test of some sort. Supporting this are the financial successes of the remasters of Spyro and Crash Bandicoot. Fingers crossed something comes out of this in the near future.
