ACCORDING TO TAKE-TWO’ FINANCIAL REPORT – MICROTRANSACTIONS ARE HERE TO STAY
Take-Two is the parent company of both Rockstar Games & 2K Games, which in the quarter ending June 30th, generated a total of $540.5 million – a 39% increase from the same period last year. This stellar result is mainly because of microtransactions, DLC and add-ons by two of its heavy hitters – GTA Online and NBA 2K19. While this is great news for Take-Two, it’s bad news for many gamers opposed to microtransactions in games as it shows that plenty of people don’t have a problem with them and willingly throw tons of real-life cash for virtual goodies. It will probably launch on on the PS4 first – and come to other platforms at a later date, depending on the mostly assured commercial success. CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS REBOOT INCOMING?
We have had so many Call of Duty games over the year that it’s hard to keep track of them. The franchise has been to WWII, modern times, near future and even in space. The developer is clearly running out of ideas as rumors are that the next installment of the franchise will reboot the Black Ops saga of their games. These rumours come by way of YouTuber LongSensation who claims that the next COD will indeed be a reboot of the Black Ops series, instead of a sequel. In addition to this, the game’s campaign will span 40+ years and heavily feature the cold war – much like the original Black Ops.
