Valorant update 6.04 patch notes: Gekko goes live

After the thrill of VCT Lock IN Brazil, Valorant is in a healthy spot with a lot of viewership and an eager player base awaiting the release of Gekko to try out his funky abilities. While there are bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, the new battle pass and the return of the Oni collection will be met with excitement and anticipation. The new features and rank reset should also encourage many returning players to check out what this Act of Valorant has to offer.

Performance Updates

Patch 6.04 features performance updates and bug fixes. An update to thread synchronisation to reduce input latency for users who do not have NVIDIA Reflex/AMD Anti-Lag available/enabled, have multithreaded rendering enabled and use VSYNC. The bug fixes include:

  • Fixed bug where if Sage’s Barrier Orb was damaged while fortifying, it would fortify to full health instead of going to max health minus the damage that was dealt during fortification.
  • Fixed a bug where abilities, like Sova Drone that are pushed by the Lotus doors into other players, could continue to push players even after the door stops or the players exited the area of the doors.
  • Fixed hitch where game mode-related UI is loaded in a blocking manner on game startup.
Revelation's update features are headlined by the new agent Gekko.

Gekko

Gekko is the latest initiator on the roster and his summoned beasts give new ways for teams to make space and even plant the spike remotely. His ability to reclaim his abilities allows him to reuse abilities used before but makes him vulnerable when he is reclaiming.

His Mosh Pit is a 1 charge 250 credit ability that denies an area of space with damage much like Viper’s snake bite. Users can throw it like a grenade or alt-fire it for an underhand throw. The difference between the snake bite and the Mosh Pit is that Mosh Pit has a larger area of effect and detonates after a short delay. It can be utilised to slow down pushes, force enemies out of position and on the spike in the post-plant phase.

The Wingman is perhaps Gekko’s most unique ability and summons a yellow creature that can unleash a concussive blast upon the first enemy he sees. Alt firing the Wingman will allow it to defuse a spike or plant if Gekko has the spike while the ability is used. You can interact and regain Wingman after a short cooldown after use. The interaction animation is similar to that of an Ultimate Orb.

Dizzy is his signature ability and summons a blue creature that flies through the air. Dizzy charges and then unleashes plasma blasts which blind enemies within its enemies in line of sight. Dizzy also reverts to a globule that can be interacted with and regained on a short cooldown after its use.

Thrash is a seven-cost ultimate that fires a Landshark-like creature that can be steered by the player. Activating it will cause Thrash to lunge and explode detaining enemies in a small radius. Thrash also reverts to a globule that can be interacted with and regained only once on a short cooldown after its use.

Oni Returns

The Oni Phantom is one of the most used Phantom skins in Valorant and has been a favourite for the community for some time. Now the Oni Collection returns with a new set of guns including the Vandal, Bulldog, Ares, Frenzy, and the new Onimaru Kunitsuna (Katana melee). Players can purchase the Oni skins from March 7th. The colour variations on the Oni skins are the same as the ones from the previous collection.
