Ubisoft’s Michel Ancel Is Itching To Bring Rayman Back

Something oddly refreshing about Ubisoft’s number one game designer, Michel Ancel, is that he is very outspoken on social media. He’s not afraid to update fans on delays and what’s going on in the studio. The latest example of this, is his hunger to return to Rayman in a brand new installment.

Referring to his love for Rayman, Ancel recently stated on his Instagram account “After Wild, after BG&E 2, we’ll need to bring him back again…for his fourth adventure!”. As tantalising as this may be, we should expect to wait for some time before Rayman graces our consoles again. Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Wild are both still waiting on an official release date.

We also have Beyond Good and Evil 2’s spotty development cycle to thank for the existence of the beautiful platformers Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. A prototype for Beyond Good & Evil 2 was actually ready way back in 2008. But last year, when questioned on it Ancel said "The game was playable with many prototypes. All videos where realtime but we had too much technical issues. We wanted planet exploration, space travel, cities. All this was also supposed to be in BGE 1. Instead of not doing the game of our dreams, we decided to return to 2D, have fun with Rayman, and go back at work for Beyond Good & Evil 2. We still have loooooots of work but now the tech is ready and the team is fantastic!"

Rayman Legends is the latest delightful adventure which contains all the levels from its predecessor. You can pick it up right now on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
