Not much is known about the recent Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater remaster apart from the fact that they’re being developed by Vicarious Visions (developers of the recent Crash Bandicoot remasters) and that a lot of the songs from the original games will make it into the remasters—but not all of them. Other than that, we have very little to go on, but in a recent Gamespot interview, Vicarious Visions boss Jen Oneal states microtransactions won’t be implemented at launch.
Everything that you see at launch is going to be unlocked with gameplay. We’re not planning on having monetization at launch.
Gamespot also alludes that if there is increased demand, Vicarious is open to releasing additional downloadable content later on down the line. Quite how this will take form is a mystery, but rest assured the developers are making sure players get a “complete package” from the start. Oneal also alluded to including cross-play, similar to Activision’s Call of Duty Warzone, yet nothing was confirmed.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC as an Epic Game Store exclusive on September 4th.
