Can you believe it’s been five years since Undertale first released? This game was an absolute cultural reset, and ever since then, fans have been clamoring for a sequel. Well, the wait isn’t over, but the finish line draws ever closer. From the Undertale official website, Toby Fox posted the Deltarune Chapter 2 development update. In it, he comes clean about just how done the next chapter is, in clear percentages.
As the lead programmer, Fox talks about the hardships of working on such an ambitious game almost exclusively by himself. Yes, almost. He is now working with a small group of people to tackle the task of delivering a quality product without further putting his health in danger. It’s a breath of fresh air and an insight into game development to see a dev talk freely about just how hard it is to make a game and how much of a toll it has physically (in Toby’s case, it comes in the form of serious wrist pain). Getting a Deltarune Chapter 2 update is definitely going to appease some fans’ worries (like mine).
We shouldn’t have to convince you how much of an amazing game the original Undertale is, but just in case, check out our review. Just the first chapter of Deltarune is a worthy successor to the indie crown, so we absolutely cannot wait for Chapter 2. What are your thoughts on the game? Do you think it’s worth a chapter-by-chapter system, or would you rather have the full product at once? Let us know your thoughts below!
