Through social media posts, Marvel has revealed that Thor: Love and Thunder has wrapped filming. The tweet below shows director, co-writer, and the man behind Korg, Taika Waititi, with Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, and his gigantic muscles standing side by side.
"That’s a wrap on Thor Love and Thunder, it’s also national don’t flex day so I thought this super relaxed photo was appropriate… Lots of love, lots of thunder!" (via @ChrisHemsworth on Instagram) pic.twitter.com/0c7tGwmnGT

Waititi, who directed Ragnarok, returned to helm the sequel. Thor’s next big adventure was shot in Sydney, Australia that began in January of this year. What was different this time around was the use of Industrial Light & Magic’s StageCraft, a giant screen that creates a virtual set. It was popularized by The Mandalorian, and now is going to be improved upon in the MCU. This screen used is a new installation from ILM, which is bigger than the Disney Plus Star Wars show, along with a higher resolution, greater options to utilize the LED panels, more control, and additions to scene complexity.
The film will see where the God of thunder will go after his time with the Guardians, who he joined after defeating Thanos in Endgame. With that, we will see Chris Pratt’s Starlord and Karen Gillian’s Nebula, who were already confirmed through leaked images of the two of them on set. Although we have confirmation of their appearance, it is unclear how pivotal they will be in the narrative.
Other familiar faces will be seen but will weigh heavier on the plot. Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Natalie Portman’s missing Jane Foster return. Jane Foster will follow her comic book arc of facing cancer, only to beat it and become Mighty Thor.
Christian Bale is set to be one of the new faces in the film as he will play the villain Gorr the God Butcher, an alien who is dead set on wiping out all deities in the known universe.
Now that Thor: Love and Thunder has wrapped filming and is off to post-production, we just need to sit and wait for its May 6, 2022 release date. It will be the second movie to hit theaters for Marvel next year. Before it, fans will have Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on March 25. Two more entries in the franchise will unleash that year with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on July 8 and The Marvels later in the year on November 11. This does not include the shows like Moon Knight and She-Hulk.
