For the past few months, Gato Studio have been releasing small teasers in the lead-up to their highly-anticipated RPG, The Waylanders. We have been given a glimpse of the starting locations, the characters who will accompany us, and on Monday (8th June) IGN uploaded a 20 minute gameplay video. On the first day of IGN’s Summer of Gaming event, we got a look at some more of the early access gameplay, a brand new trailer, and a release date.
Early Access Impressions
During the Summer of Gaming Expo Debut event yesterday, IGN gave their impressions of the game. The video shows many different aspects from combat to the camera angles.
When in combat, we can create a formation for stronger attacks and control other party members to get the most out of each of their abilities. If you’d rather play as just your character, there is the option to leave the other party members to do their own attacks.
While the game primarily takes place in the Celtic and Medieval eras, there is a mix of cultures and historical elements that contribute to the expansive world, and gives the game that extra dash of magic.
It has been two years since Gato Studio first launched their Kickstarter campaign but we now have the one piece of news we have all been waiting for: the release date. The Waylanders will go into early access on the 16th June! With the release date coming next week, we don’t have long to wait until we can delve into the world of The Waylanders and experience the magic for ourselves.
As well as the early access impressions and the release date, we were also treated to another trailer during the event:
The Waylanders will be released in early access on the 16th June 2020 on PC (Steam).
