Another blow to the lineup for the Xbox Series X|S as The Medium has been delayed to January 28, 2021. The news comes breaking straight from the game’s official Twitter account.
“It wasn’t an easy choice to make, but one made due to the COVID-19 situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market,” writes the game’s Twitter. “Bloober Team remains committed to delivering our biggest, most ambitious, fear-inducing experience to date.”

The post also details how the team will take this time to fix issues and refine the “innovative, genre-pushing vision” experience it is aiming to deliver for its upcoming horror game.
This offers yet another blow to the launch lineup for the next-gen Xbox. Earlier this year, Halo Infinite faced the same fate as it got pushed into next year without a concrete date. While the first-party titles thin out, players will still be able to experience the power of the next boxes while playing games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
The Medium was first conceptualized in 2012. Since then, Bloober Team has delivered some major updates on the game’s development. The score will be composed by the people behind Silent Hill‘s music, Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka. Meanwhile, Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite) will have a major role in the game.
Bloober Team has been making games since 2010 but made its first big splash with the horror game Layers of Fear in 2016. In 2017, the developer continued its journey into the depths of horror with Observer, which is getting an enhanced version this month. Most recently, the studio put out Layers of Fear 2 and Blair Witch in 2019.
