During today's Nintendo Direct, the president of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime talked about the series 30th anniversary, where he talked about how fans who have never played the first original game will be able to when the NES Classic releases this December.
However, along with that, he announced that we would be getting four new Zelda amiibo. Which consists of the 8-bit Link from the original Legend of Zelda, Link from Ocarina of Time, and a special two pack featuring Toon Link and Toon Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. These figures will work as standard Link and Zelda amiibo figures, and will be compatible with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, and will have special functionality.
It is unknown as to what special functionality these figures will have, but we'll probably find as the game comes closer to release. These new amiibo figures will be available December 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild will be available for the Wii U and NX in 2017.
