A remake of The Last of Us Part 1 has been leaked ahead of Sony’s Summer Game Fest. The project may have been the big reveal for the event, with rumours circulating about God of War too. The remake has been issued a September 2nd, 2022 released date and will retail for $69.99. A PC release is planned, however, no release date has been confirmed as of yet.
The Last of Us Part 1 introduced the world to Ellie and Joel, on their post-apocalyptic adventure across a dystopian United States. The pair fight through hell, where a mutant outbreak of a fungus infection has taken hold of the planet for over 25 years. With an unforgettable cast of characters, a nostalgic soundtrack and gameplay that still holds up today, TLOU has gone on to sell over 20 million copies.
THE LAST OF US PART 1 WILL RELEASE ON SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2022 WITH A PC VERSION IN DEVELOPMENT
The game also ships with the acclaimed Left Behind bonus campaign. Originally released as DLC, the chapter set before the events of the main game sets up the premise of Ellie and Joel’s epic adventure. Naughty Dog took 7 years to release the highly anticipated sequel, The Last of Us Part 2. The polarising second chapter sees Ellie, now an adult, dealing with complex emotional issues such as heartbreak, trauma and family. We also met the false antagonist, Abby, in the sequel, where events dating back to the first game set a vendetta against Joel alight. Part 2 saw similar success to its first instalment and went on to win 43 awards. Among those awards is the prestigious Golden Joystick Awards, where it pick up all six of the awards it was nominated for.
The Last of Us is also set to make its television debut, with an HBO original series in development. The series will see Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey take on the role of Joel and Ellie, respectively. Additionally, the TV development will be HBO’s first original material based on a video game.
LEAKS FROM SONY CONFIRM THAT THE LAST OF US PART 1 AND LEFT BEHIND HAVE RECEIVED COMPLETE OVERHAULS FOR THE PS5
The Last of Us Part 1 is set to join UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PS5. However, notoriously long development times have players wondering when TLOU Part 3 will release. Initially announced in 2016, TLOU Part 2’s development was troubled by the COVID-19 pandemic. With a 4-month delay to the game’s release, Naughty Dog took 7 years to give players a sequel.
It is also to be noted that this is a remake and not a remaster. A remaster of The Last of Us Part 1 was released by Naughty Dog for the PS4 in July 2014. However, this time around Naughty Dog are building the game from the ground up for PS5. This means that players will get to experience the beloved adventure with all the benefits of playing on a PS5.
