Utano☆Princesama Shining Live was a free-to-play tap rhythm game based on the popular male idol franchise, Uta no☆Prince-sama♪. It was a unique collaboration between Japanese media publishing company Broccoli, and Klab. Players were able to interact with their favorite members from the groups ST☆RISH and QUARTET NIGHT, form units, and tap along at the rhythm of the most popular songs of the UtaPri franchise.
The very first game of the Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ franchise was released in 2010. Since then, the game has spawned several sequels, rhythm game spin-offs, and multiple anime and manga adaptations. All the while accumulating a dedicated and feverish fan base in both Japan and overseas.
Shining Live was first released in Japanese only in August of 2017, amassing over one million downloaded users within the first week. Later, a translated version of the game localized in both English and Traditional Chinese was released in late January of 2018. Prior to the release of Shining Live, there had been no medium of the franchise apart from the dubbed anime adaptations that had been accessible to overseas fans.
The English and Traditional Chinese version of Utano☆Princesama Shining Live has closed. Thank you for your support and we hope you enjoyed playing.

The announcement of losing what was essentially the only official connection to the series was a bit of a blow for players of the global version. Users went as far as starting a Twitter campaign, making and signing petitions to request a data transfer from the dying server to the lively Japanese one in a final attempt to save their accounts.
Unfortunately integration of the servers was deemed not possible according to the Shining Live team, but there is always a possibility of new localized spin-offs, so players continue to remain hopeful.
