The Elder Scrolls Online is finally getting next-generation enhancements for the Xbox Series X/S and the PS5 in the form of a brand new version of the game titled The Elder Scrolls Online Console Enhanced. It will launch alongside the Blackwood Chapter and update 30 on June 8th, available as a free upgrade to all existing ESO console players.
The MMORPG has been available on the new consoles since day one via backward compatibility, but it didn’t feel like it took full advantage of the power of the new consoles. The framerate and general performance were near-identical to that of the Xbox One and PS4 versions despite it running on the new systems. As promised, fans will be pleased to see it run natively on the newer generations, and similarly to other console enhancement updates, players will be able to choose how their game runs depending on their personal preferences.
Performance and Fidelity Modes
Performance Mode will allow the game to run at a smooth 60 FPS, unlocked from its previous 30 FPS cap. This will be a go-to mode for the more competitive players that seek to keep their game at peak performance, even while in the most intense battles. Fidelity Mode, on the other hand, will guarantee a slightly more visually enhanced adventure for those that prefer to immerse themselves within the fantastical world of this universe, likely at the expense of performance.
As well as this, loading times, depth of field, shadows, reflections and more will all be improved in some way. This will be the ultimate way to explore Tamriel in all its glory.
Bethesda will reveal more information about the Console Enhanced version of the game in the near future, coming up to its release just in time for Summer on June 8th.
