NIS America announced today that The Caligula Effect 2, the sequel to Aquria’s turn-based role-playing game, will be released this fall for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Written by Tadashi Satomi (whose previous works include Persona), the title follows imprisoned high school students as they escape a simulation. The premise appears similar to the first game, however this time there are new evils and new heroes.
The publisher also announced a substantial Limited Edition of the title, containing the game (for PS4 or Switch), a 2-disc soundtrack, a digital soundtrack download featuring three bonus tracks, a school messenger bag, and a school ID from the game.
Originally released for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, The Caligula Effect received mixed reviews in the face of high expectations. Unfortunately, the Vita port was plagued with technical problems, and a remake, The Caligula Effect: Overdose was released for PS4 two years later.
The limited-edition is currently available to preorder on the NIS America store, with a current price of $99.99 and an expected release window of “Fall 2021.” More news, such as the final release date, is likely to come within a few months. The Caligula Effect 2 was originally announced during the Japanese Nintendo Direct on February 18.
