Team Sonic Racing Customizations, Animated Series Revealed

Paint your car red, install gold rims, and blare "La Cucaracha" on your horn. The possibilities are endless in the new trailer from Team Sonic Racing shown at SXSW that tells you how to customize your car like a West Coast Customs mechanic. SEGA also revealed a new animated series that ties into the game, plus a not-so-obvious surprise.

Team Sonic Racing customizations, animated series revealed at SXSW
During the Sonic the Hedgehog panel at SXSW Gaming Saturday, Sonic Team showed off a new trailer for Team Sonic Racing, demonstrating how you can customize your car by painting it in multifarious colors, installing different colored rims and other parts to enhance its performance, and even set your horn to play different tunes based on every time you beep the horn. The paint jobs and other aforementioned modifications give the game some Pimp My Ride vibes, but according to Polygon, it's been handed down from Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, the most recent Sonic racing title.

Team Sonic Racing will come with a two-part animated series titled Team Sonic Racing Overdrive, produced and animated once again by Tyson Heese and Neko Productions. They released part one of the series, which contained no dialogue just like Sonic Mania Adventures, but is a delightful treat nonetheless.

Everyone who attended the Sonic panel expected to see a trailer for the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie, but that never occurred. However, Sonic Team did announce that production of the next major Sonic game is already underway. They didn't give many details about the new game, but we can only hope that it doesn't involve Classic Sonic in some capacity.

Team Sonic Racing zooms by May 21, 2019 on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
