Sega has announced Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, a remaster of the 2006 Nintendo Wii game of the same name. Watch the announcement trailer below to catch a first glimpse of the game in action. To learn about some of this remaster’s new additions, read on.
Aside from HD visuals, this release will feature a few new additions. Sega has announced that controls will be optimized specifically for every platform. In addition, there will be an entirely new online leaderboard and multiplayer mode. Sega provides the following info about this new content.
Online Leaderboards: A first for the series, players can now compete with others around the world through online leaderboards for single-player Time Attack and the all-new Mini-Game Decathalon Score Attack modes.
This will be the first HD home console release in the series. It may not be the most critically acclaimed title in the franchise, but it’s exciting to see Monkey Ball expand to new horizons nonetheless. Hopefully this remaster will manage to iron out the issues of the original.
This announcement is the latest in a series of cult classic series getting HD remasters. Not long ago, we heard news that classic strategy titles Langrisser I & II were being remastered. Likewise, fan-favorite Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town was also recently confirmed to receiving a full remake.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD will be released for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One on October 29. A PC release via Steam will come later this year. It will be priced at $39.99 USD.
