For those of us following the E3 conference this year, Microsoft and Bethesda’s showcase revealed a trailer and the release date for GSC Game World’s next title in the STALKER series, STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl. Despite what the name suggests, STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl is actually the fourth entry in the STALKER world, following up STALKER: Call of Pripyat, which released over a decade ago back in 2009.
STALKER, an acronym for Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers and Robbers, is a first-person shooter adventure game series set around the Chernobyl disaster site, and created by Ukranian developer GSC Game World. During their E3 conference, Microsoft released a five-minute gameplay trailer for STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl in full Russian dialogue (with subtitles, of course), complete with a 2022 release date for Xbox Series S/X and Microsoft Windows.
From the trailer, we can see our protagonist, Skif, speaking with “friends” at a campfire, with cuts to intense gameplay clips as they converse. Complete with cheerful dancing, a terrifying mutant, and a deadly anomaly; it seems like there will be plenty to do and be afraid of in STALKER’s newest installment.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl is coming to Xbox Series S/X and Microsoft Windows on April 28th, 2022. It will be available Day 1 for Xbox Game Pass. Head over to the official Xbox website to find out more.
