Sports Story Delayed For The Nintendo Switch Until Further Notice

Sports Story, the spiritual sequel to 2017's Golf Story, has been delayed for the Nintendo Switch. The announcement came from the developers - Sidebar Games - in a tweet earlier today indicating that the overall game was becoming bigger than anticipated. They want more time to make sure they incorporate everything into the game.

Sports Story Delayed For The Nintendo Switch Until Further Notice Cover Sports Story is the follow-up to 2017’s hit – Golf Story. The game was set to expand upon the existing characters and world by taking the existing golf model, and dropping it on its head with a whole range of other sports for you to take part in. As with its predecessor, Sports Story was set to deviate from the norm and have the player engage in some rather unconventional sporting activities such as: Galf Pinball, playing soccer with a dog, and even making contact with vampires. However, Sidebar Games have announced – in comical video form – that Sports Story has been delayed for the Switch.

They explained further about the difficulties they are facing with Sports Story’s progress. In a follow-up tweet, Sidebar Games said:

“The game has become rather ambitious and we are excited about how it could turn out. But the price is currently being paid as we try to make our plans into reality.”

Obviously the Sidebar Games drawboard of ideas is consuming the office and they are trying to incorporate all of their crazy ideas into one game. It’s never a bad thing for the scope of a game to be so large, one of the few drawbacks to Golf Story was that it was indeed a bit limited in places. Sports Story being delayed for the Switch should hopefully do the game a world of good, and serve up a treat in the process.

Golf Story is now available to buy on the Nintendo Switch.
