Spider-Man Remastered Changes Peter Parker’s Face

In a new blog post and trailer, Insomniac has shown that it has made changes to Peter Parker's face for Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered. Graphically, he is rendered with higher quality, but the person who makes up the face players know is different.

For the PS5, Insomniac will deliver a fully enhanced version of its 2018 superhero adventure with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered; while it makes the game prettier, the studio also changed Peter Parker’s face entirely.

On the PS Blog, James Stevenson, the community director at Insomniac, goes into details of what we can expect in this remastered version of the 2018 game. He explains the decision behind the new face for the iconic hero.

“But it’s not just the environments; our characters have also gotten a huge upgrade. From higher fidelity skin, eye, and teeth shaders to individually-rendered strands of hair, the new tech and detail brings our characters and their performances to new life.

This does bring us to one of the bigger changes. In order to bring the best performances to players with our next-generation Marvel’s Spider-Man games, we have recast the face of Peter Parker. We loved working with John Bubniak on the original game; however, to get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life.”

Spider-Man Remastered will have the same enhancements as the upcoming standalone game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, to take full advantage of the PS5. The SSD will make for load times nearly instantaneous, the ray tracing will make reflections off windows of skyscrapers act more realistically, and the plethora of costumes will look better than ever. The remaster and its companion will also have new photo mode features like setting up lights within the environment and swapping out suits.

You can play the remaster and its DLC when purchasing the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition when the game launches with the PS5 on November 12.
