We already know that a remaster of Spider-Man is coming to PS5. However, fans now know that Spider-Man PS4 saves won’t transfer to the remaster. Insomniac Games, developer for the newest Spider-Man games, responded to fans on Twitter asking about backwards compatibility. When asked whether you can use the PS4 disc to play the remaster, Insomniac made clear that you’ll play the PS4 version. This suggests that the games are completely separate; data from Spider-Man PS4 saves will not be accessible in the remaster.
You will play the PS4 game via backwards compatibility.

Also, the PS5 remaster won’t be available as an upgrade for all owners of the PS4 version. You’ll have to buy the Deluxe Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales to get the remaster, which will feature improved lighting, ray tracing, 3D audio, and more. This deluxe edition will only be available for PS5. So, if you want the remaster, you’re going to have to upgrade to Sony’s next-gen console. The game will also feature a separate trophy list to the original, another indication the games are being considered distinct.
While we haven’t seen the remaster itself yet, we have seen what Spider-Man: Miles Morales will look like on PS5. Given that both have been designed for PS5, visuals should be a step up from the original on PS4. And, from what we’ve seen in the gameplay demo, this is pretty accurate. Players will be able to judge themselves when the game release on November 12.
