The last edition of Rainbow Six Siege‘s 2022 Major is looming closer, with Jönköping city as the host of the event. The original plan was to hold the Major in Asia region, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, Ubisoft shifted the location to Sweden.
Six Jönköping Major will feature 16 teams from the four regions and will compete to win $500,000 and the Six Major trophies. The Major will have a live audience during the Playoffs and the Grand Final. The tournament will commence at the DreamHack Winter event, and the fans that want to attend can get their tickets through the DreamHack Winter website.
Sixteen Contenders, One Champion
Six Jönköping Major will follow the Four Double Round Robin format for its Group Stage matches, while the Playoffs will follow the Single-Elimination bracket. All teams have locked their spots for the event.
These are the teams that will play in the Major:
European League
North American League
LATAM League
APAC League
Six Jönköping Major starts on November 21 with Group Stage matches and will end on November 23. The matches will not be open to the public, so there won’t be a live audience during this period.
There will be a daybreak on November 24, meaning that the teams won’t have any matches for the day. It’s uncertain whether Media Day will also occur on this date, however, based on past Majors, Ubisoft always utilizes the day off for promotional events.
The Playoffs, which will include the Quarter-Finals and the Semifinals, will commence on August 19 and 20. These matches will be open to the public, so the fans who bought the ticket can view their favorite team’s matches live.
The Grand Final
Six Jönköping Major’s Grand Final will commence on the event’s final day on November 27. One team from the Upper Bracket will face the other team from the Lower Bracket. The winner will take home $200,000 and 375 SI Global Points, which will help their qualification for the Six Invitational 2023.
The event will be streamed across multiple R6Esports’ official accounts, mainly through YouTube and Twitch.
