With 2019 coming to a close and no official word from WayForward, it seemed inevitable that the latest edition of the Shantae series would be delayed. Fast forward a few months later and the precious details have finally been announced. Via tweet from the official WayForward Twitter account, Shantae and the Seven Sirens will officially release on May 28th.

Shown in a reply to the above tweet, the game will also have a planned physical release, courtesy of Limited Run Games, who also provided distribution help with the recent Vitamin Connection. Few details have been provided, but a “standard edition” and “collector’s edition” were teased alongside the release information.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens will be available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC; additionally, a “Part 2” update was made available on Apple Arcade.

The Seven Sirens will mark the first game from the Shantae series since Half-Genie Hero, originally released in 2016 after a successful kickstarter campaign. Since then, WayForward has been continuously updating and releasing DLC’s for the fourth title, as well as collaborating with Arc System Works to create last year’s River City Girls.
