After being rumoured and leaked, Square Enix have finally let the cat out of the bag. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a thing and, as rumoured, will be releasing this this September 14th, 2018. This reveal was brief, a short teaser trailer before the full reveal this April 27th, 2018. Considering that the release of the Tomb Raider movie is really close, this was a smart decision to use the hype from one to boost the hype of another.
The Tomb Raider series has stunning graphics and sees a younger version of Lara Croft find her footing in the world of tomb raiding, following her father's research. The games have wonderful setpieces and vary gameplay with sections for climbing/exploring, shooting/combat, puzzles and crafting. Lara is a survivor, and the gameplay allows you to experience her survival instincts when push comes to shove. This iteration in the series is said to allow players to "Experience Lara Croft’s defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider. Available September 14th, 2018." The game has been confirmed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Hopefully, Eidos Montréal can make a game that rivals the first two in the series in terms of quality as they take the reins from Crystal Dynamics. The Tomb Raider website has been updated in accordance to this new announcement.
