The supposed sequel, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, was leaked on Target, ahead of any sort of announcement from Warner Bros. or Monolith Productions – the companies responsible for the 2014 hit. However, their logos are present on the box art so it's safe to say that they will be the ones handling the reins for the sequel. A release date of August 22nd was also included though this may not be final. Furthermore, both a PS4 and Xbox One version was listed.
Additional information on the listing states that Shadow of War will have you “going behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within.” The much-touted nemesis system will also make its return, leading to a sequel that seems to tread similar ground to its predecessor.
A $100 special edition version called the 'Gold Edition' was also listed and details two story expansions called 'The Blade of Galadriel' and 'The Desolation of Mordor' as well as two Nemesis expansions called the 'Slaughter Tribe' and the 'Outlaw Tribe'. The story expansions apparently include a new campaign, playable character, abilities, side missions, enemies, allies and more whereas the nemesis expansions introduced new tribes as well as a tonne of extra goodies.
