The developers at Team Ninja, who worked on the Nioh games, might be cooking up something good. In collaboration with Square Enix, a rumour has surfaced that a Final Fantasy spin-off title is in the works, set to be called Final Fantasy Origins. There is plenty of information we know already, even for just a rumour.

Final Fantasy Origins will be a PS5 exclusive and will later arrive on PC. This title will also apparently be showcased in this year’s upcoming E3 conference. Most likely, it will be officially announced at Square Enix’s conference. We still don’t know when their conference will happen.

Apart from the actual conference, what do we know about the game? Final Fantasy Origins will be an action-focused game, like Team Ninja’s Nioh series. It’s also said to be Souls-like, a term used to describe games as similar to Dark Souls. If that worries you, the rumour confirms that the game will be accessible to more audiences.

No story details are known besides Origins being connected to the world of the first Final Fantasy game. First released in 1987 for the NES, this game was the start of a whole new franchise. If this excites you, the report also points out that an alpha demo will be available in the summer, presumably after it’s shown at E3.
