Reputable industry insider and Giant Bomb member Jeff Grubb claims there’s a chance Horizon: Forbidden West is delayed until 2022. At least based on what he’s been hearing. He does emphasize that it’s “not a sure thing” in a comment on Reddit. A delay would directly contradict a statement made last month by game director Mathijs de Jonge. The Giant Bomb show in which Mr. Grubb makes this statement is a premium title on the official Giant Bomb website, so sadly, a video or link cannot be provided.
Despite #HorizonForbiddenWest delay fears after the next #GodofWar was pushed back to 2022, Guerrilla Games says its sequel is still coming this year.https://t.co/JRQ4MEGPsa pic.twitter.com/hmiRc8oPbc

Horizon: Forbidden West might be Sony’s most anticipated PS5 1st party game as of now, and their lineup for 2021 is looking stout as of now. With Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Deathloop coming later this year, PS5 owners have plenty to anticipate. Not to mention substantial 3rd party multi-platform games like Farcry 6, Dying Light 2, and Battlefield 2042. But if Horizon gets delayed, PS5 fans could be clamoring for more exclusive offerings that genuinely utilize the console to its fullest.
So far, what we’ve seen of Horizon: Forbidden West was undoubtedly encouraging. Lush-filled environments and the talent at Guerilla Games have the Decima Engine looking indubitably next-gen. New creatures such as a Tremormusk, and fluid, vividly colored finishing blow animations debuted. Along with new traversal options, such as underwater swimming and a grapple.
