Returnal Launches on PC February 15

The latest in the long list of Sony first-party games making their way from PlayStation to PC, third-person bullet-hell shooter Returnal makes the jump next month. Full requirements have also been revealed, from minimum to ultra, along with PC-exclusive features, in a brand-new trailer.

Returnal Launches on PC February 15Fans of frenetic shooting and fast-paced bullet dodging, as well as deeply mysterious sci-fi stories, should be pleased to hear Sony has officially announced that Returnal will be released on PC on February 15.

A brand-new trailer shows off the stunning visuals of the game running on PC, the challenging gameplay fans can expect to experience for themselves, and a handful of the most interesting PC-exclusive features to help make the game look and run at its best.

These features include: Screen optimisation, supporting Nvidia DLSS, Nvidia NIS, and AMD FSR, to increase visual quality without sacrificing resolution; Ultrawide screen support, with Ultrawide at 21:9 and Super Ultrawide at 32:9; adjustable Ray-tracing for both reflections and shadows, to really make the otherworldly scenes on Atropos pop; Dolby Atmos 3D audio, along with different surround sound setups to choose between; and PS5 Dual sense support, complete with button remapping options, for those who prefer playing with controllers.

All of these extra features should bring new life to Selene’s time-looping journey and show off the overgrown planet’s ominous setting and unsettling creatures in a brand-new light. That being said, the game has some rather hefty requirements if players want to see it running at its glorious best.

The good news is, despite previously being reported as requiring 32 GB of RAM for just the Recommended settings, Climax Studios (the developers handling the PC port) seem to have some optimising leading up to release, as now only 16 GB of RAM is needed. This update brings Returnal closer in line with the previous games ported over from PlayStation. However, 32 GB of RAM will still be necessary to run the game on Epic or Ultra settings, especially if players want to make the most out of all the new features.

Taken from the game’s Steam page, here are the Recommended settings in full:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (version 1903)
  • Processor: Intel i7-8700 (6 core 3.7 GHz) AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (8 core 3.7 GHz)
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super (8 GB) AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12 GB)
  • Storage: 60 GB available space

As previously reported, the PC port of Returnal will also come with the Tower of Sisyphus co-op DLC included.
