Get ready for
GTA Online but Wild West Red Dead Online. The Beta launches tomorrow (November 27th) for Ultimate Edition Owners. Meanwhile, people who played the game on day one of its release will be able to play from the day after on the 28th. Anyone who played within the first week of RDR2's release can join in the beta from the 29th and finally, anyone who owns the game but doesn't fit the previous criteria can play from the 30th.
While we don't know too much, other than the obvious assumption that Red Dead Online will basically be GTA Online but with Cowboys and Horses instead of flying hovercars and lock-on rockets. Over at The Verge, they have a generic PR statement on what to expect from Red Dead Online.
With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns, and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players. Create and customize your character, tailor your abilities to suit your play style, and head out into a new frontier full of things to experience.
Explore this huge world solo or with friends. Form or join a posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole posses in open world challenges and much more.
So there you have it, folks, I'll be jumping in to take a look around since I haven't really played the game since finishing the story. None the less, it's free if you own Red Dead Redemption 2 already, so I guess it's worth having a look right?
