Meet Grim, The New Y7S3 Operator

Rainbow Six Siege‘s Y7S3 will have one new operator for the Attackers’ side. His codesign is Grim, and he hails from Singapore. He’s affiliated with the Nighthaven.

Grim brings a new gadget, the Kawan Hive Launcher, which acts as a tracking device to spot the Defenders and push them out of their position.

When the Kawan Hive Launcher hits a Defender in its AoE, it will ping a Defender’s live location three times, similar to Alibi’s Prisma, giving an advantage for the Attackers.

Grim is a 3-speed, 1-health operator, and according to Ubisoft, they made Grim to be a flexible intel gatherer. His weapons are the 552 Commando and the SG-CQB for the primaries, while his secondary weapon is the P229.

For his secondary gadgets, his options are the Breach Charges and the Claymores. Below is the graphical information by Ubisoft regarding Grim’s loadout.

Rainbow Six Siege Y7S3 Changes

Operation Brutal Swarm also introduces many balancing changes into Rainbow Six Siege, and we will highlight some of the most significant changes that will come to the game.

Weapon Balancing

With Operation Brutal Swarm, Ubisoft will bring forth a massive change to weapons’ recoil, stating: “This is a universal change that we know is going to be contentious across the board as it hits nearly every single weapon in Siege.”

This change has been carefully planned, as Ubisoft’s Pre-Season Designer Notes say: “We have reviewed each weapon individually based on several different parameters such as Rate of Fire, Damage per second, and what operators use them.”

This massive change to almost every gun in the game will surely bring out a dynamic change and shift of power on the Operators.

Gadget Changes

In Rainbow Six Siege, Secondary Gadgets hold certain importance and can be a game changer if players can use them properly. With this in mind, Ubisoft will implement several changes for the upcoming season.

Rainbow Six Siege‘s Y7S3 will introduce a new Secondary Gadget, the EMP Impact Grenade.

This device is meant as an alternative for Thatcher, and to give the Attackers new opportunities without having to rely on a single operator.

The EMP Impact Grenade has an explosion range of 1.8 meters, with a duration of 9 seconds

Sledge, Montagne, Blackbeard, Dokkaebi, Lion, Gridlock, Nokk, and Osa will have access to this gadget as their 3rd option.

With Y7S3, Ubisoft wants to bring down the potency of Frag Grenades, as well as buffing the Hard Breach Charges to give them better potential.

Frag Grenades’ non-lethal damage will have its range reduced to 3.6 meters. This is to reduce its potency while keeping its lethality.

Ubisoft is hopeful that this change will make the players use Frag Grenades more accurately, while still rewarding those who manage to throw them well.

Hard Breach Charges’ activation time is now 4 seconds (down from 5). This change is to give the gadget synchronicity with the new gadget, the EMP Impact Grenades.

Conclusion

There are still tons of balance changes, as well as numerous new contents that are awaiting the players in Operation Brutal Swarm.

These changes will bring a lot of new gameplay angles as well as new dynamics to teams’ lineups.
