Quantic Dream Games Will Be Available On Steam In June

French developer Quantic Dream are bringing their narrative-based adventure games Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human to PC digital storefront Steam on June 18, 2020. This move follows the studio breaking away from PlayStation exclusivity last year and the subsequent release of their games on Epic Games Store.

The Steam releases for Heavy Rain (2010), Beyond: Two Souls (2013), and Detroit: Become Human (2018) were announced during Quantic Dream’s Inaugural Livestream on Twitch. All three games will be available on June 18, 2020 with demos currently available to try out the experiences. No price is currently given; however, you can add them to your wishlist.

Quantic Dream made a name for themselves through their partnership with Sony which saw them release their games exclusively for PlayStation consoles. This all changed in January last year when the Chinese tech company NetEase purchased a minority stake in the studio which freed them up to publish their own games on whatever platforms they wished to. This originally led to them releasing these three games on Epic Games Store through a deal that saw timed exclusivity for that marketplace.

With that agreement coming to an end, Steam users will finally have the chance to play through David Cage’s trio of technically impressive, narrative-heavy (occasionally heavy handed), interactive dramas.

Heavy Rain is about four protagonists navigating the mysteries of the Origami Killer and is famous for its branching storylines and quick time events. The game received positive reviews upon release, catapulting David Cage and Quantic Dream into the mainstream. Beyond: Two Souls went for an even more cinematic approach by enlisting Hollywood stars Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe but failed to capture audiences with its passive gameplay and polarising writing. Detroit: Become Human is about three androids trying to find their place in society and helped the studio gain the public’s favour back through its compelling scenarios which offered a great deal of player agency.

While the livestream mentioned that Quantic Dream is “working on many exciting new projects”, they quickly followed this up by saying “we cannot talk about (the projects) yet”. However, it is nice to have their most famous games made available through Steam on June 18.
