Since PUBG Mobile released in February 2018, it has taken the mobile gaming scene by storm. As of June 2019, PUBG Mobile had 400 million registered players, with 50 million playing every day, beating out Fortnite on mobile. PUBG Mobile does not include all the content that the game on console and PC has to offer; new maps such as Vikendi are only currently available through the test server.
Soon, though, PUBG Mobile players will be able to play a new exclusive map, which PUBG Corporation say is specifically designed for “playing on the go”. The new map is called Livik, which is designed for games to last around 15 minutes—obviously being a lot smaller in size compared to other PUBG maps.
Despite Livik’s small size, it will feature multiple points of interest, including a volcano and a waterfall that is supposed to alter the gameplay where other PUBG maps haven’t.
In an interview with The Verge, producer Rick Li was excited about the addition of a new map:
The waterfalls around the map will provide unique interactions with the player not available on other maps, The characteristic of the waterfall is the real physical impact of the water flow. Players might even get washed away by rapid water flow when standing on the top of the waterfall. You can also prep with new surprise tactics, such as launching a motorboat off the top of a waterfall to the water below on an unsuspecting team.
No release date has been given to the new map as of yet, but we will keep you updated when PUBG Corporation provides more information.
