Shopping during the holiday season is going to be different due to COVID-19. While many still don’t have pre-orders for a PS5 yet, Sony did say on PlayStation.Blog the console will be sold on launch day, but it will not be available only online, so there will not be any on sale items in retail stores that are open.
“No units will be available in-store for purchase on launch day (November 12 or November 19, depending on your region) – please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase,” said Sid Shuman, the senior director of SIE communications content. “Be safe, stay home, and place your order online.”
If you have a pre-order, you can pick up your next-gen PlayStation at your local retailer where you ordered from. Others will ship the item depending on your order, like for anyone you purchased through Amazon.
We have plenty of games to look forward to whether you get a PS5 on day one, or you manage to snag yourself one a few months later. Demon’s Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales are just two heavy hitters coming on release, while in the first few months, we should see Horizon Forbidden West and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
