Japanese publication Famitsu announced today that, according to its own data, the PlayStation 4 has sold over 3 million units in its domestic market. As of August 21, the console has brought 3,006,635 units to the consumer, taking it 131 weeks from launch to reach the threshold.
According to the magazine, the top five best selling games for the platform are, in sequential order, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Knack, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Dragon Quest Heroes, and Dark Souls 3. Knack's high sales numbers are attributed to it being bundled for free with launch editions of the console.
Famitsu went on to add that it expects sale numbers to grow significantly in the near future with the release of PlayStation VR, Persona 5, and Final Fantasy XV.
