Sony's virtual reality headset continues to sell as it takes the second place in the market just behind Samsung's tech. PS VR added an additional 429k from the first quarter of 2017 to the already confirmed 915k units as of February 19th of this year. This new sales development brings the PS VR headset close to the 1.5 million unit threshold. Interestingly as well is the fact that Sony's VR tech is outpacing both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. These last two only added 99.3k and 190.9k respectively this quarter. Currently, only Samsung's Gear VR is outselling the PS VR with about 489.5k sales for this year's first quarter.
This news shouldn't be all that surprising as the PS VR has had some big games of the likes of Batman: Arkham (timed exclusive), Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Resident Evil 7 (timed exclusive), Farpoint and soon to be added Star Trek: Bridge Crew. With E3 just around the corner it goes without saying that a new wave of PS VR exclusives are bound to be revealed.
