Pokémon TCG Adds New Card Types With "Vivid Voltage"Next month, the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) gets a little bit bigger. Due for release on November 13th, 2020, Sword & Shield – Vivid Voltage brings the focus back on fan-favorite Pikachu in their chunky VMAX form. But aside from the eye-catching artwork, there’s an important update that comes along with it: Amazing Pokémon.

Amazing Pokémon are a new type of card that will feature a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon such as Celebi, Jirachi, or Rayquaza with rainbow artwork and a special rarity symbol. Based on the Japanese release of the set so far, these cards seem fairly common. Which begs the question, will they be as hard to find as the rainbow variant of Charizard in the recent Champion’s Path release?

Vivid Voltage has already released in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and the English release is scheduled for next month. Booster packs will come emblazoned with the art of Pikachu, Zarude, Celebi, and Orbeetle, and larger sets will be available for purchase.

These will include two decks based on Drednaw and Charizard, as well as a Build & Battle Box. The box includes four booster packs, a 23-card Evolution pack (featuring cards from current and prior sets), and one of four alternate-art promo cards. The boxes will also feature art of Zarude, a fitting presentation of the all-new Mythical Pokémon.
